Born in Yuma, Arizona, Jeff has always been drawn to the southwest. Jeff lived in France, Germany, and Spain at an early age, when his father, Lee, served in the Air Force. After his dad’s retirement, the Hett family settled in Oklahoma, where Jeff took an interest in art and music.

He moved to Santa Fe in 1985 and began working with a construction crew, whose specialty was stonework. After gaining experience, he established his own crew of stone masons, and continued to learn all the applications of various types of stone. Mostly flagstone.

Having cut and laid thousands of square feet of patios and walls, Jeff started to design and build stone benches and tables. He discovered that, beneath the surface, most rocks contain qualities similar to wood. Using diamond blades, Jeff cuts the shapes, then uses a combination of honing the surface and sandblasting to create different textures.

Referring to his pieces as "functional sculpture", Jeff continues to try to come up with new ideas combining stone and style to create beautiful mirrors, tables, benches, and water features.
